Any form of horseback riding is a sport, and our horses are our teammates. They let us move at speeds we never could on our own,  allow us to jump obstacles we could not dream of clearing, and they do it all using their body in harmony with our own.

It is no surprise that they, just like humans, can get sore muscles that may impact every aspect of their performance. Some signs that your horse is uncomfortable includes tossing their head during gait changes, reluctance to pick up a certain canter lead, and difficulty bending in one direction.

Massage therapy is recognized to increase blood flow to tissues, reduce muscle tension and spasms, and keep muscles more resistant to future injuries.

As a lifelong horseback rider, Dr. Dooley not only knows the stresses of different riding disciplines on the horse’s body but also can understand equine body language during a massage session. She has an undying appreciation for horses and the bond we share with them.
